Sit up and listen, girl!

Got some discouraging news today.  It looks like my job is going to end at the end of the year.  The company is going to enforce a 12 month rule:  if you are a contractor (which I am) then you have a max of 12 months, and you are done…forever.  So they have re-set every one’s ‘clock’ back to 0 on Jan. 01-08.  I’ve been hearing about it for a while, but with 40% of the workforce being contractors, I was clinging to the hope that it wouldn’t happen.  I learned today that it most likely will.  So, D-day is December 31 (no pun intended).

So yes, I’m a little worried about it.  I shouldn’t based on this:

Luke 12:22-34
22And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. 23For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! 25And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 26If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? 27Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. 30For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.
32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions, and give to the needy.  Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

So I’m really engrossed in this right now.  I have alot going on.  This is just another thing added to my plate.  As I’m sitting her typing this, I’m figuring out that God is tapping me on the shoulder and asking me when I’m going to pay attention to His word.

Are you paying attention?

I am so sorry that you will not have a job at the end of the year. but you are right. God is tapping you on the shoulder. Maybe you have something better is instore for you. His master plan no one will understand.
As for paying attention, we could pay attention all we want, but you know how god is. He can be tricky.

Marquetry (cool name, by the way) Thanks so much for stopping by!

I guess the point is that even without a job, God will provide. His word is clear that I don’t need to worry about ‘things’ so much. It’s kind of comforting to know that, and I need to spend a little more time paying attention to what He says. I think a lot of people forget to pay attention to God…and hence the question, are you paying attention?

Thanks again for your comment! Please, come back again!
